Biography

DSC_2653Timothy Rees studied trumpet with John Kellaway and composition with Colin Spiers at the University of Newcastle’s Conservatorium of Music, and has been working as a peripatetic brass teacher in the north shore and central coast areas since 2004.

He has performed many ensembles including Waratah Brass, Wollongong Symphony, Central Coast Symphony Orchestra, Central Coast Philharmonia, University of Newcastle Symphony Orchestra, and is currently a member of the solo cornet section of Central Coast Brass.

In 2004 he was awarded an Australia Council — New Work Emerging Artists grant to compose a piece (Metamorphoses) for the Australian String Academy summer school. He has also composed works for orchestra, concert band, brass ensemble, chamber ensembles and solo instruments.
